Brooke Bentham is a singer-songwriter from South Shields who is often compared to the likes of Mazzy Star, Yo La Tengo, Sparklehorse and early Angel Olsen. In October she released her latest single All My Friends Are Drunk’ a song she recorded with Bill Ryder-Jones, who she has been working on a full body of new music with. And if that’s not cool enough for you, she will be the main support for Sam Fender’s sold-out UK tour starting on the 22nd of November, which sees her perform at the O2 Academy in Newcastle on 7th December. Ahead of this big tour Brooke shares with us her top five theme songs from TV shows.

Parks and Rec – A silly classic. Says what it needs to about the show. You’re in for a fun ride, You’re singing along, You’re smiling, You’re excited for the next half an hour.

Broad City – Very similar to parks & rec except you’re dancing now too. You’re grooving. Another fun half an hour looms.

Gilmore Girls – This is what comfort sounds like. It’s a Sunday afternoon, you’re on the sofa with a blanket. You’re ready for a bit of Rory & Lorelai time.

The OC  – You’re a Cohen now, welcome to a life of insecurity and paralyzing self-doubt.

Twin Peaks – Can’t do this without mentioning twin peaks. It’s an obvious one but it’s so good. It puts you in that world as soon as you hear it.
