Sammy Sadler reviews the new album from the Newcastle band
Self-Released
Released: 08.04.19
Due to their name, I half expected The Artisans to be indie rockers with an overly arrogant frontman and if I’m honest, I’d have been totally ok with that. But this jubilant indie pop outfit are a breath of fresh air from the Arctic Monkeys wannabes out there.
Infectious lyrics, danceable instrumentals and a jangly array of guitars, percussion and a lush trumpet for good measure, there are a lot of feel-good vibes on this album. Radiating with a proper North East vibe that could recall the likes of Maximo Park, the album’s toe-tapping tunes ensure the listener will struggle to keep still. They find their groove during the second half of the release, but in general this is an album full of fun vibes.
