After becoming interested in Positive Psychology Jordan Rakei started going to therapy; What We Call Life includes themes he unexpectedly uncovered in those sessions. Naturally, this process has produced an immensely personal and vulnerable body of work.

Lead single Family is the pick of the bunch, tackling his parents divorce whilst he was still a teen. The album has that inimitable Rakei sound which has seen him collaborate with everyone from Loyal Carner to Common and everyone who’s anyone from the London neo-soul and jazz scenes. If you like Jorja Smith or Jamie Woon, let’s face it you’ve probably already heard of Jordan Rakei, but if not, What We Call Life is some of his best work yet to get you acquainted.
