Alive After Death. Turning the Bones. The Dead Walk.

While these could be titles of a new film from horror maestro John Carpenter, they are in fact all tracks from his latest soundtrack sound-a-like release, and they’re just as darkly evocative as you’d imagine.

With this being the first album following a world tour by Carpenter, along with accompaniment by his son, Cody Carpenter and Daniel Davies, it’s hard to miss the added driving confidence that fuels its thrashing guitars and duelling synthesizers. His film scores always proved he was a pioneer in the use of electronic music, but this cements his musical renaissance as something to switch on for. Lost Themes III might be chilling, but it’s absolutely thrilling.
