Evie Nicholson reviews the distorted and fractured reflection of the duo’s debut album

Jockstrap’s I<3UQTINVU is the distorted and fractured reflection of the duo’s debut I Love You Jennifer B released last year. Taylor Skye – one half of the electro-pop duo – described the process of making I<3UQTINVU as hazy, like “eating too much and then throwing up”. I see that. With the exception of Sexy 2, the album sounds nauseous and purging.
Old favourites like In The City, 50/50 and Jennifer B are chucked through a shredder and smeared in new vocals by those like Kirin J Callinan. Sexy (ft Babymorroco), Good Girl and Pain Is Real are favourites and probably the most cohesive. Those who aren’t familiar with Jockstrap may find the album mildly anarchic, but for many starving fans, I<3UQTINVU provides enough brilliant weirdness to tide them over.
