Floating Points’ forthcoming short film and soundtrack Reflections – Mojave Desert finds Sam Shepherd and his band on a thrilling sonic exploration. Following the explosive Elaenia, Shepherd has carefully crafted sound palettes equally as expansive as the Mojave landscape, in the first of a series of environmental recordings from different locations around the world.

The seven-minute-long Silurian Blue begins with gorgeous chimes before opening up to reveal deep tones and sharp beats reminiscent of Air.  Kites has a strong melodic drive, seamlessly interweaving other instruments into an intricate lattice before disappearing into thin air. Kelso Dunes is an epic track of jazz standard proportions leading on to Lucerne Valley, where your journey leaves you exhilarated and scrambling to book your next trip.
