On The Toothpaste And The Tube, Beans On Toast explores a huge host of topics in his signature stripped-back folk style, with some additional playful elements such as the chorus of AI written by ChatGPT and funk-inspired sound of The Greenwash.

The album is a journey through hard-hitting political talking points, accompanied by lighter songs inspired by family life and simple human pleasures. Considering the despondency you might expect in songs covering environmental issues, the cost of living crisis, political corruption and war, Beans On Toast manages to harbour a remarkable and sincere hopefulness. This comes through most strongly in the sing-along choruses of tracks like Back Out On The Road and witty, heartfelt lyrics on The Three Stooges and album closer Who I’ll Try To Be.
