ALBUM REVIEW: DEADLETTER – Existence is Bliss

Two years on from fireball debut release Hysterical Strength, DEADLETTER have launched another epic to rock your world. From their native North Yorkshire to their London homes this express train sound will win them the ears and hearts of their country mates. The band have not stood still, they have evolved. With more depth, more breadth and special spaces to catch your breath and allow the Psychedelic Furs like saxophone lead to steam in to drive up the sound.

There are more layers to peel away, peer beneath and wrap around every carefully structured and annunciated syllable of Zac Lawrence’s blistering baritone’d lyrical surges. As the rhythms click in and the guitars ramp it up. Every verse seems to rubber stamp messaging of vital importance.

Indeed, there is an urgency stamped right through this long player. And yes darkness abounds for sure. But there is a flickering light through the frosted glass at the end of the tunnel where a blissful chorus awaits. Fill us to the brim, DEADLETTER. Essential listening.
