Former Pulled Apart By Horses guitarist James Adrian Brown is releasing his debut solo album on the electronic music connoisseur’s label of choice Castles In Space.
It is an all electric collection of instrumental tunes inspired by his life experiences, from the infinite illusional possibilities witnessing Blackpool illuminations as a young child and utilising that wide-eyed fascination as a means to explore, experiment and maintain his creativity into adulthood.
It includes the original version of the pulsing Generator which was magnificently experimented on in October by the likes of Field Lines Cartographer and Warrington Runcorn New Town Development Plan.
The rest of this album is not really in that vein, it’s in some respects more thoughtful and evocative of times and places as in Poster Child, Promenade or Sidestep or its unearthly as in Somewhere I’m Not which has us floating in the impossible ether, a childlike fear bubbling under a soaring angelic drone or it’s journeying as in Northwestern as our carrier travels through an explosive imaginary landscape of possibility with a rhythmic clack that is a distant memory of itself. The closing track Remember elicits nostalgic dreams, the beats driving us further into a mist of intangible memories, a delightfully apt closing that leaves us wanting more of what might be.
