Single Exclusive: Matt Hunsley – With Or Without

Newcastle-based songwriter Mat Hunsley returns with With Or Without, a self-produced single that pulls no punches. Known for blending folk and alt textures with a reflective lyrical style, Mat’s latest track (the fourth single from his upcoming album) takes aim at climate change denial and is built on a steady pulse, ambient textures, and mild and melodic vocals. The arrangement grows with slow-build intensity, blending alt-folk tones and DIY warmth into a spacious, purposeful sound.

“Without Or Without is my mockery of climate change deniers. The fact that some people can remain so ignorant of rising temperatures and seas is beyond me. The evidence is right there, plain for all to see. We’re standing on the edge of irrevocable damage, and something has to change. And yet, year after year, decade after decade, we keep walking—complacently, absurdly—towards oblivion, thinking, “Ahhh, it’ll be alright.” From our so-called leaders, we hear nothing but empty promises, while the deadline for real action keeps getting pushed further back. Madness, if you ask me.”
