The North-East pop duo try to encapsulate the sound of their new single, Danger Meets Desperate using three tracks
North-East musical duo, and twin sisters, Twayn release Danger Meets Desperate, their first new single of 2025. The track reflects on knowing someone’s wrong for you, but chasing them anyway. Sonically, the track is filled with eighties feels in the verse, with poppy percussion and silky synths in the verses, before exploding into life with guitar-driven stadium rock energy. It’s a punchy contrast that perfectly frames the effortlessly harmonised, euphoric lead vocals.

Cate’s Brother – Maisie Peters
This song was the sonic blueprint for our latest single, “Danger Meets Desperate”. We were so inspired by not only the general pop/rock energy, but also the switch to halftime. The flow of the lyrics, the guitar layering in the beginning, we could go on. This song is just perfect. The rock explosion in the chorus just feels incredibly cathartic, and that’s exactly the energy we wanted to replicate. I think seeing this song live, plus Maisie’s other single, “Blonde”, really pushed us to write more songs we would love to perform, more than just record. “Blonde” even includes some nah-nah-nahs for a bit of audience participation … maybe we’ll have to give that a go this summer onstage during festival season?!
Walk – Griff
We actually introduced our producer, Josh Ingledew, to Griff during the making of this track, and he’s now a huge fan. She has such an imaginative use of production, particularly in her use of larger-than-life synths and serious euphoric energy. If Maisie was the inspiration for the choruses, Griff was the inspiration for the verses. Griff produces all of her own music, which is very impressive. Her use of drums is especially unique, and we loved creating a “griff-groove” in our single.
Bed Chem – Sabrina Carpenter
We really love the percussion in this song; it is absolutely off the chart. Instead of using standard drums, Sabrina uses toms and little pitched clicks to create an insane groove. Considering the lyrical content of our single, yearning after a boy you know you can’t really have, we wanted to make the song feel a little more sexy, especially to juxtapose with the “Dangerous” chorus filled with layers upon layers of guitars. This was quite a challenge for us, as we usually feel more comfortable writing sad songs, but we absolutely adored the process of creating a song with the hopes of defying Twayn fans’ expectations.
