Monday 14th December
MUSIC Jeffrey Lewis @ The Cluny, Newcastle
Jeffrey Lewis has built quite the cult following for his off-beat, quirky, strumming anti-folk music. Odd in the best ways, and fantastic in so many others, his live shows are always a wonderful experience. 2015 may be drawing to a close, but this talented, well respected song writer will be making his claim for gig of the year.

Tuesday 15th December
MUSIC Slaves @ O2 Academy, Newcastle
Another music recommendation for Tuesday, as Slaves roll in to O2 Academy. The cheeky duo bring their low-fi, catchy songs and boisterous live show to Newcastle. A Mercury Prize nominated band, their punk infused, indie energy is a real treat to catch live.

Wednesday 16th December
FILM Die Hard @ Tyneside Cinema, Newcastle
Tyneside Cinema always has an amazing selection of festive films to be taken in at this time of year, and it’s always a special experience. But no list of top Christmas films is complete without John McClane, in an utter thrill ride of a film; worth seeing for Alan Rickman’s mesmerising villainous performance alone. Yippee Ki Yay.

Thursday 17th December
ART & LIT Jibba Jabba Xmas Special @ Cumberland Arms, Newcastle
Jibba Jabba is one of those rare little gems of a night that you really need to sample. Featuring spectacular headline poets, top comedians and wonderful music, it’s the open mic section for which the night is famed, and provide a real ‘anything can happen’ feel to the night.

Friday 18th December
MUSIC The Wildcats Go Christmas Crackers @ ARC, Stockton
A 10 strong line-up, carol singers and a night that is guaranteed to give you a Christmas just like the ones you used to know. Friday and Saturday at ARC in Stockton has lots of seasonal inspired fun. This is the first of two consecutive nights of legendary festive mayhem, as Mike McGrother and his wise men, and some special guests, return bring the curtain down on 2015 in their own inimitable style.

Saturday 19th December
MUSIC The Lake Poets @ Independent, Sunderland
The Lake Poets play their last show of 2015 at Independent, Sunderland. It’s a hometown Christmas extravaganza for the locals, as they celebrate a fantastic year of music and sharing it with friends. There are special guests too, but the quirky, folk influenced songs of singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Martin Longstaff will be enough to fill everyone full of good cheer.

Sunday 20th December
COMEDY Silly Billies Comedy Club @ Live Theatre, Newcastle
Silly Billies rounds out a massively successful 2015 with another brilliant line-up. Expect lots of silliness and madness, and get swept away in the exuberance of a mental night of comedy with Nicola Mantalios-Lovett, Sammy Dobson, Ken Brady, Alasdair Beckett-King, Joby Mageean and Henry Von Stifle.
