The Memory Fades are a band formed by the prolific Stephen Maughan ( ex – Kosmonaut and Bulldozer Crash). He has recently released the Space Pilot EP to rave reviews as well as local and national radio play. Listening To Marychain is the second song on the EP and the latest song to be released in video format. As the title suggests the song is a homage to The Jesus and Mary Chain with lyrical references and musical nods to the UK’s finest and most successful post-punk act. It’s a great listen for fans of both bands and we’re delighted to be given an exclusive look at the video. Stephen tells us a little more about the track and the video.

The song is our tribute to East Kilbride’s finest … The Jesus and Mary Chain. We fell in love with them as teenagers and the sound of their buzzsaw guitars, feedback with bubblegum pop melodies layered over the top made us want to start our own band. So we did and many years later we wrote a song about them. We are just waiting by the phone expecting them to ring us any moment now to ask us if we can support them on their Darklands tour next year.

We made the video ourselves on an iPhone, we tried to get Douglas Hart the original bassist from the Marychain and now a world-renowned promo video maker to shoot it for us but he was sadly too busy. We think it turned out ok though, if a little lo-fi at times.

The song comes from our second E.P. release Space Pilot on the Super Stereo Sound Record label which is available from our Bandcamp page. There is also a free download of an acoustic version of the song at the same address.
