Yarm and Billingham based music collective The Inklings release their fourth album, entitled bring Out Your Dead, on Monday 19th July and we’re delighted to be given an exclusive look at the lead track from this release, Taxi For Swales.

The Inklings’ Darren Thomas tells us more about this visual accompaniment…

“The video was made by Teesside video company Arra Videos of which I am a part of with a guy called Phil Harrison. Arra videos have made a few well received local music videos.

The song was filmed mainly in Billingham and Hartlepool with a little bit of Yarm and Middlesbrough added. The song, and video for Taxi For Swales is about a friend of mine who always goes home early. So the video attempted to create a Cinderella type fairy tale mixed with Mr Swales finding different modes of transport to go home, from taxis and boats to alien abduction.

It was probably the oddest thing I’ve ever filmed as I made cardboard TV with a green screen front then just placed it in train stations, shopping centres or just beside pubs and roads then filmed people walking past it (I added the effects afterwards). Strangely not one person seemed to think a man filming a cardboard box in a busy street was anything out of the ordinary!”
