Cayton-based trio Nalgo Bay are set to drop the video to their dark and alluring new single, Strangers, and we’re delighted to be given an exclusive first look. The track, with its lurking rhythms, impassioned vocals and euphoric chorus, was recorded at Catalyst Studios with Sugar House (The Sheratons, Viola Beach & Venus Grrrls) and is the second of six releases this year.
Here, the band tell us more about the song and its wonderfully shot visual accompaniment…
“Darker than previous releases, Strangers is about a need to adjust who we are when speaking to different people. Everyone can be a stranger when no one sees the real you. This can be both incredibly isolating or potentially exciting, depending on which way you look at it. We wanted to capture this within the shoot, how enticing it can be to be led in a different direction, whether that is driven by something within you or by someone else. It’s all about being given that chance to break free and embrace the raw reality of being human, breaking some rules along the way.
“It’s the most fun shoot we’ve done so far with our videographer, Charlie Spalding. Filmed in our hometown of Scarborough, we used Scarborough Art Gallery, The Crown Spa and outdoor shots along the Cleveland way where the old outdoor swimming pool used to be. The locations were perfect for the Strangers video, dark and flooded with drama and everyone who took part in the scenes did an awesome job. We hope you like it!”
