Singer-songwriter Leon Fussell releases his brand new single, Permission To Leave, on Friday 17th March. The piano-led rock song (recorded and mixed by Leon) is inspired by a friend of his who came home from work one day to find his girlfriend had moved into his flat, uninvited.

“He was too nice to just ask her to leave” adds Leon, “so he set about doing everything he could to put her off him. Eventually, she moved out. I’m not saying he did the right thing, but it gave me some interesting material to write a song!”

Leon has kindly let us have a sneak peek of the video to the single ahead of its release. Here, he tells us more about it…

“After the positive reviews for Your Faint Touch of Sunshine that we filmed on top of Newcastle Castle, I was inspired to make a follow-up video at another iconic North East landmark. I’m extremely grateful to Spanish City for giving me permission to use their grand piano under their beautifully restored dome roof.

I’ve made big-budget videos with production companies before and low-budget videos I’ve edited myself, but for Permission to Leave I wanted to challenge myself to do it on no budget. My friend and actor/filmmaker Adam Lowe captured the footage using my iPhone and a gimbal. We managed to set up, shoot the video, and pack up all within two hours. And I edited it in my home studio (along with the green screen footage I captured for the guitar solo).”
