Singer-songwriter Jay Moussa-Mann releases Tell Me, her second single of 2021. The track, which is taken from her upcoming album and can be pre-ordered here, tells a story of betrayal and broken promises, and poses the question, what was I worth?

Accompanying this heartfelt and melodic new offering is a beautifully animated video, which we’re delighted to be given an exclusive look at.

Here, Jay tells us more… “The video tells the story of a swan who meets another swan, that isn’t really a swan at all, who tricks her into wearing a jewel which drags her down to the depths of the sea. She is then saved by a Thornbird who sweeps her to safety. The story is essentially ‘narrated’ by ‘Paper Jay’, strumming away on her guitar in a colourful paper city.

I created the video over the course of about 3 weeks, finding DIY ways to make a mix of stop motion and hand drawn animation. I think the themes in this song are quite difficult and I felt it was easier to approach it through animation and paper characters than through a traditional live action video.

The song is about realising how little you were worth to someone who didn’t really value you. I guess in a way, it’s also about realising how you are actually worth a lot.”
