The indie-folk singer songwriter gives us an exclusive look at her video to latest single’ Getting By
Durham Dales-born, indie-folk singer-songwriter Holly Rees is an artist whose beautifully crafted, expertly arranged songs with poetic lyrics have earned her comparisons to the likes of Laura Marling and Courtney Barnett. As well as national radio support, Holly has played with the likes of CoCo and the Butterfields, Joseph J Jones, X Factor’s Sam Lavery, and Hannah Trigwell and her second EP, Slow Down climbed to #6 on the iTunes chart and garnered airplay across the United States and Europe.
She returns from her recent 30 date tour of Canada to release Getting By, a full-band anthem rivalling 2018’s softer release, Stick Around. This single is a middle finger up to depression and a reflective look at the “see-sawing, cyclic nature of our lives – the way we’re given a ceaseless onslaught of times both good and bad.” Holly elaborates further, “This is a song about struggling with mental health – how things can be really good and really bad all at once, and ultimately how sometimes just getting through it is all you can do, and that’s okay. Sometimes it’s okay to just survive. The tide will always come back in.”
