Newcastle based chaotic punks Geist return with a new bass player (Andy Findlay – ex-Crossburner/Legions) and a live session recorded at Blank Studios by Chris McManus who the band previously worked with on 2016’s split 7” with Michigan’s Sunlight’s Bane. The session also includes a new track from the as-yet-unfinished follow up to 2019’s Swarming Season album.

The session was filmed by Paul Hogg and promises to showcase the band’s trademark screamo energy on the spacious floorboards of the rehearsal space while long dark shadows lurk in the candlelit corners and symbols drape the walls, it’s perhaps the perfect setting for the band’s thoughtful grindcore.

Guitarist Matt told me, “Andy joining us has added another dimension in terms of enthusiasm and song writing. We were already three or four songs into the new record but since he’s started writing with us the ideas are endless. As for the live session, we really don’t have too many options and while a live stream from a venue is something on the cards for the future, we wanted to release something a bit different and it gave us a chance to play a new song that could potentially even still change before we record it for real.”
