Reliably informed

Anthemic indie/rock outfit Chloe & The Brainwaves drop their latest single, Can’t You Love Us The Same? The track is about the frustration and hurt of never feeling like the favourite and always falling short in the eyes of others. It’s a haunting and ominous offering with atmospheric guitar, dramatic beats and soulfully ethereal vocals with notes of Mazzy Star and Evanescence.

Here, we fire across seven AI-generated questions for the band to answer…

1. What is your favourite childhood memory?
Seeing the local ice cream man rocking up in our council estate every Friday night in the 90s. The excitement of sprinting out the front door with my 50p after hearing the faintest sound of his pitchy tunes. The enthusiasm from that memory is etched in my memory.

2. If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?
I would likely tour around America, visiting iconic cities such as Seattle, LA and New York. I’d love to see the music history there because so many of those venues have hosted legendary performances. I’m a big fan of Kurt Cobain, Jeff Buckley and Joni Mitchell so I’d love to see the venues where they started out.

3. What superpower would you choose if you could have one?
I would love to be able to flick a switch and have my brain focus when I want it to. It really struggles when it has to focus on anything outside of music. Could this be classed as a superpower?

4. What book or movie has had the biggest impact on your life?
Cowspiracy. It changed the way I look at the food industry and the role we play in fighting climate change.

5. If you could have dinner with any historical figure, who would it be and why?
Not sure about this one…

6. What’s the most adventurous thing you’ve ever done?
Shaving my head on a number 2 and touring Europe for a month with Status Quo in 2017, as one of their backing vocalists. It was truly epic!

7. If you could instantly learn any skill, what would it be?
I don’t think I would, I derive the most pleasure from the whole journey. For me that’s what makes any skill worth crafting.
