Reliably informed

Colourful Tyneside indie/post-punk outfit, The Peevie Wonders drops their brand new single, Food Shop, and we’re delighted to be given an exclusive listen to it.

Angular guitars, spacious, shiny synths and prowling basslines provide the scene-setting backdrop for verbalised food-related thoughts that take you through the whole shopping process… And very much like a trip to my local Aldi it descends into chaos, although in this instance via satisfying sonic ferocity.

Here, the band tell us more about the song…

“This song is a musically adapted display of an internal monologue during a trip to the big Morrisons in North Shields. Food Shop takes you through the exhilarating story of attempting to buy bread crumbs to use as a crispy coating for deep-fried cauliflower.

The Supermarket really is food for thought and breeds questions such as ‘Trolley or Basket?’ ‘Do we need bread?’ ‘Will the security guard know that I’m not going to steal if I smile at them?’ and most definitely ‘Whereabouts are the breadcrumbs?’ These questions are tackled in Food Shop.

There can be zero guarantee that anyone will like this next release… However,  one thing can be guaranteed and that is the fact that you will never see anyone on this planet play the shopping scanner better than Ben does. One more truth is that this story did actually happen, they were the wrong breadcrumbs and yes I did try again another day.”
