Neo-soul artist Kate Bond is set to drop her brand new single, Public Enemy, on Wednesday 15th May and we’re delighted to be given a sneak preview before its general release.

‘Public Enemy’ is a soul track influenced by storytelling telling Hiphop (Little Simz, Noname). The track, with its ominous synth sounds, lurking beats and incising guitar alongside Kate’s, cool, soulful vocal, is inspired by storytelling hip-hop from the likes of Little Simz and Noname and reflects on cancel culture and social media. It tells the story of a woman scorned who, out of heartbreak, wants to tarnish her ex-partner’s name by turning people against him.

Here, Kate tells us more about the single…

“I think we see a lot of viral stories on social media that are inherently toxic and focus on taking someone down, completely ruining their reputation. My song ‘Public Enemy’ shows how we all need to be more gracious and empathetic towards people, especially when we don’t know the full story.”
