Producer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Josh Ingledew drops his third single from his upcoming album, Magic Cauldron and we’re delighted to be given an exclusive listen to it ahead of its release on Thursday 14th March.

Made mostly in his bedroom in an afternoon, the track, with its lovely baroque-sounding keys, spacious, soothing vocals sounding like they’ve been played through an old-fashioned radio and satisfying licks of guitar from a 70s prog concept album, peregrinates through an everchanging soundscape filled with notes of Beach Boys, Elliot Smith, Tame Impala and Vivaldi, as well as a dash of childlike wonder.

Here, Josh tells us more about the release:

“Magic Cauldron is the third single from my upcoming album Beautiful Weird. It was more or less written and recorded in a day. It was made around the time of lockdown when I was obsessively trying to complete Zelda Ocarina of Time on the Nintendo 64, the soundtrack from that game definitely inspired the track. At the time of producing it I was also listening to The Beatles back catalogue as well as The Beach Boys’ Pet Sounds album, giving the song its 60’s tinged baroque-pop sound.”
