Finn Forster is singer-songwriter from Middlesbrough who after playing in several bands, including local faves Swilly Chill decided to go it alone. He has since put a band together consisting of members of The Panoramic and Bi:Lingual, supported Dylan Cartlidge at his sold out show at Westgarth Social Club and played the recent edition of Stockton Calling. After releasing his first single Empty Promises in April, Finn returns with his second offering, Circles – a driving slice of indie-rock with soulful vocals and a big chorus.

Finn tells us more about the latest release, which comes out today and sees him performing at Base Camp, Middlesbrough this evening to launch it. “Circles was first written by me, my lead guitarist Stefan Atkinson (previously front man of the panoramic) and my rhythm guitarist James Powell. It was mixed by Stefan with his home studio equipment In his bedroom and later mastered by James Henderson. The song was put together by me having a listen to the guitar put down by Stefan and jotting down lyrics into notes on my phone and coming up with a melody in my head that we could work from.

I quickly recorded a rough vocal and the rest was a quick but big progression over the coming weeks. The song is inspired by scenarios that we often find ourselves repeating and the fact that what we often picture in our head might sometimes not be the case. This can be positive or negative.

I am incredibly excited to put this track out to the world and it’s a reminder that I have no intention of slowing down. Since my debut gigs in March headlining local music showcase night ‘Whirling Dervish’ at TSOne and a main support slot for Dylan Cartlidge’s sold out gig at the WestGarth. The support has been overwhelming in quick succession. I am looking forward to working harder than ever in the coming months and making it my goal to give fans incredibly high energised shows and new releases. This is just the beginning.”
