North-East alt-rockers Alex James Band are set to drop their brand new single on Friday 1st March. These Days. The track, with its thick crunchy riffs, driving beats and sleek, Josh Homme/Alex Turner-esque vocal, is about smashing the system – something we all wish we could do.

The band, who are set to play a launch gig at Independent in Sunderland on Friday 1st March and Steam Machine Brewery in Newton Aycliffe on Saturday 9th March, give us an exclusive listen to the single ahead of its release.

Here, Alex tells us more…

“These Days was written as a politically motivated rock track with a rebellious edge. Inspired solely by the concept of outrunning the machine and breaking the wheel, which represents the cycle of an endless system that never ends. A system that is faced by austerity and never seems to reward anyone for their hard work. Although the song champions hope for change in this country, I found that if it ever became a reality it would still be important to remember “These Days” in which we live and never forget where we came from. It was from this idea that this track was born and it truly sets the tone for what the band and I have in store for the rest of the year.”
