As part of their UK tour two big names of the UK jazz, improv and experimental scene stop by Cobalt, Newcastle on Saturday 20th November to showcase new material.
UK punk-jazz outfit WorldService Project, led by keyboardist-vocalist Dave Morecroft, will be playing songs from their fifth album Hiding in Plain Sight, which features their trademark blend of free-jazz pandemonium that bridges eras between UK punk jazz breakouts of the 00s such as Acoustic Ladyland and the F-IRE Collective and the modern psych-jazz grooves of The Comet Is Coming and Sons of Kemet.
Joining them are Leeds outfit, Roller Trio who look to showcase their exploration of electronic sounds and long-form soundscapes intertwined with heavy and raw groove. The energy in their performance along with their catchy tunes have won great critical acclaim and in 2012 the band were nominated for the Mercury music prize.
Tickets are £10 ADV and available here.
