An empowering new show from The Lawnmowers’ learning-disabled led Theatre Ensemble takes place on 29th & 30th June
Retake, Remake is an empowering new show from The Lawnmowers’ learning-disabled led Theatre Ensemble. It makes its debut at Live Theatre, Newcastle on Wednesday 29th and Thursday 30th June, during the run up to Live Theatre’s Make Hope Possible radical festival taking place 1st-3rd July.
The show sees the ensemble revisit blockbuster films that use actors without learning disabilities to portray characters with learning difficulties in order to question Hollywood’s star-defining practice, with funny or moving outcomes. The Ensemble worked with Artistic Director Jan Willem van den Bosch (Dickie Beau’s Black Outs & Remember Me) and Theatre Maker Melody Sproates (Gender not included) to co-create this cutting-edge lip-synching fest that sashays through a soundscape of songs, recorded voices and snippets of films such as Forrest Gump and I Am Sam.
Tickets are priced from £10 to £15 (with concessions from just £6) and are available via Live Theatre’s website.
