On Wednesday 11th May, showcasers of all things spoken word, Born Lippy, put on a special event at Cobalt Studios, Newcastle to explore femininity and queer identity in the North-East. Diverse Femininity, is an inspiring evening of poetry and performance, which has been curated by the Poet in the City Producers, a group of talented Newcastle-based young creatives producing events, provoking discussions and driving campaigns to ensure young people have a stake in the future of poetry in the North-East.

The fantastic lineup of poets, musicians and comedians will be offering their own unique insights into femininity, masculinity, gender and queerness via performed and audience participation-style pieces, before making way for an open mic.

Performing is Newcastle-based rising hip-hop star Kay Greyson, comedian, actor and writer Lauren Pattinson, British-Bangladeshi Newcastle poet Tahmina Ali Tinker, North-east storyteller Rue Collinge, and feminist Teeside collective Tees Women Poets, led by founder Kirsten Luckins who will be presenting an open mic of work created as part of Born Lippy writing workshop Black Bullets in A Sweet Jar

The evening will include Pickle Juice, a special soundscape by LA INTRUSA, which explores the voices of marginalised femininity, using archival sampling and ambient textures.

Tickets are £6 ADV or £10 ADV for the event and poetry workshop. Get yours here.
