Young Musicians Project is music and songwriting project based at Pop Recs, Sunderland whose aim to create a vibrant music scene in the city. To create this dynamic scene the group, which is managed by We Make Culture and supported by Arts Council England and Sunderland Music Hub, are looking to local musicians who have tasted success to impart a bit of knowledge and there’s not many who have been more successful than Paul Smith of Maximo Park who released six studio albums, with the first two albums going gold in the UK and their debut being nominated for the Mercury Prize.

On Thursday 25th June Paul Smith will be the YMP special guest for their Q&A event aimed at young and early-career musicians from the North East of England and taking place on Zoom. He will be talking about getting started in music, songwriting, his journey from living in Billingham to selling over 3 million albums, or anything else you’d like to know.

The event takes place at 6pm. To book a space, click here.
