Alt. rock grrrl band Venus Grrrls are the latest headliner to be announced for Stockton Calling, the all-day multi-venue festival taking place across Stockton on Saturday 16th April.

As well as possessing a fiery sound, shot through with gutsy guitars and emphatic yet catchy melodies, the group use their platform to advocate for women’s rights, implementing riot grrrl aesthetics and idiologies into their spacey sonics.

The band will head up the line-up at NE Volume Music Bar. Jimmy Beck, one of the festival organisers, said: “Venus Grrrls are red hot at the moment and are playing some amazing events up and down the country – we’re delighted that we’ve got them to headline one of our stages this year. Anyone who hasn’t seen them already is in for a treat.”

The band join a festival line-up which also includes fellow headliners fellow headliners The Mysterines, Self Esteem, Bob Vylan, Komparrison, The Pigeon Detectives and The Reytons, with other acts recently confirmed including The Let Go, Courting, Stone, The Zen Arcade, Shambolics, Duck, CVC, Frankie Beetlestone, Cara Rose, English Teacherbigfatbig, Faye Fantarrow, Joe Ramsey, Leopard Rays, Luke Royalty, Michael Gallagher, Moon Wax, Mt. Misery, MXYM, Nel Unlit, Ocean Floor, Pit Pony, Samantha Durnan, Sarah Johnsone, Shore, stebee, The Shakin’ Nightmares, Wax Heart Sodality, We Tibetans and ZELA.

Tickets for Stockton Calling, which takes place on Saturday 16th April across venues in Stockton, are priced at £31 via Dice.
