Twin Beam – the collaborative project brought to fruition by brothers Oscar and Athol Cassidy alongside John Pope – will release their new EP Timelines this month, providing a slice of funky electro and a festival-friendly vibe in anticipation of the summer.

Guest vocalists bring variety to the release, with opening track Glide featuring Ross Kerr’s catchy vocals amidst the trio’s smooth guitar licks; Want To’s funky bass tones are backed by Aimee Lambert’s subtle and sultry voice; while John Turrell’s unmistakable honeyed tones are an absolute delight on That Heat. While the EP may sit in the funk bracket, the robotic electro flourishes on tracks like Want To lifts the release above one genre alone.

Members of the band have a pretty impressive CV between them, having worked with labels like Acid Jazz and Record Kicks, they’ve also toured internationally and had their work featured on films and video games. Recently, working alongside the likes of Smoove & Turrell and avant-garde jazz band Archipelago has widened their sound and seen some superb vocalists contribute to their performances. Hopefully some of those guests will be present at their EP launch at Newcastle’s Cobalt Studios on Wednesday 24th April, where they’ll be supported by dynamic electronic noisenik Waskerley Way.
