Artist and Newcastle native Rae Carter brings exhibition Twelve to Arthur T Sharpe’s Tattoo Emporium on Friday 3rd November, with a showing of previously unseen works from the self-taught artist.
Rae focuses on highlighting her ideas through simple, minimal mediums, often exploring the contrasting interplay of light and shadow to convey drama or depth through her snapshot images – ‘picking out shadows’, as she describes it.
This exhibition takes excerpts from her sketchbook, along with other ideas created in the same period. While the project initially served to test the limits of her creativity and ability, it developed into a marker for her first major efforts at creating a true, focused body of work.
It’s free admission with drinks on entry, and an evening of top artistic fun.
Twelve is at Arthur T Sharpe’s Tattoo Emporium, Newcastle on Friday 3rd November.
