Swedish singer-songwriter Kristian Matsson, also known as The Tallest Man On Earth (he’s not, I’ve checked) goes out on his UK tour, stopping by at Sage, Gateshead on Monday 4th November. A prolific songwriter and an artist who loves to release stuff, he has released a handful of critically acclaimed albums (and an EP) over the past decade and he returned in April with his latest offering, I Love You. It’s A Fever Dream, which he recently accompanied with two solo sessions for the supercool Mahogany and NPR (Tiny Desk Session).
Fans of Matsson love his honest storytelling and how he works through his life via his music and, as he points out, his latest album is a rather reflective piece of work “Making the album, I was thinking a lot about the lenses we view our lives through. For some reason, our worst tendencies seem to be carried out so loudly, while our best go unnoticed. I’ve come to realize that some of the most powerful, most inspiring moments in my life have been the most subtle and that so often the thing that deserves my attention, is the least trying to get it.”
Support for the show comes from American solo-artist Julie Byrne, a performer who leaves rooms and festival crowds mesmerised by her voice and warm presence.
