On Friday 27th March Sarah Dixon will assemble a declamation of poets at the superb Old Cinema Launderette, Gilesgate Moor, Durham for an evening of eclectic spoken word performances. The Quiet Compere National Tour 2015 follows on from last year’s hugely successful Northern Tour and will visit 12 cities and feature over 120 poets of all ages, cultures, styles and experience.

If you haven’t been to a spoken word happening before this might be the one to ease you into the swing of things. Not only will it be held at one of the cutest venues in all the land it’s also worth knowing that The Quiet Compere events are described as unique with a rare and lovely gentleness. There are no lengthy introductions and all performers are considered equal, meaning no-one gets to be the headlining, tantrum throwing diva, or divo, of the night. Each line-up boasts a varied and diverse mix of talent, ranging from established local artists to newbies who are ready to stun audiences with their word flair, plus a generous sprinkling of nationally well-known poets and performers.

The Old Cinema Launderette line up includes: Catherine Ayres, Michael Brown, Jane Burn, Catherine Graham, Ira Lightman, Sheree Mack, Asa J Maddison, Judi Sutherland, Arwen Webb and Jessica Wortley.
