Hailing from Tuscon, Arizona, The Myrrors have slowly built an international cult audience for their distinctive take on psychedelic rock (dubbed by the band, tongue partially in cheek, as ‘Sonoran trance music’).

Previous shows in the region (notably a 2015 outing at The Central Bar, Gateshead courtesy of Snakes Don’t Belong In Alaska) displayed their talents both for lilting, Allah-Las-esque garage rock and for longer-form sonic explorations. As such, it’s a pleasure to report that Wandering Oak and Infinity Mirror Records have teamed up to promote a return visit from the band at The Cluny 2 on Monday 19th February.

Having made a serendipitous arrival on the international psych scene when their first, self-recorded album Burning Circles In The Sky garnered over half a million views on YouTube, The Myrrors have kept their momentum going with a hectic touring and recording schedule. Their most recent album, 2017’s Hasta La Victoria, saw the band immersing themselves further into diverse influences such as Tuareg playing, Indian ragas and South American folk music.

Joining them on the night is a crack line-up of local talent, including fuzz-worshiping Durham newcomers Star Cult, the mysterious noise of Stealing Kittens and the pure rock mania of Cave Suns. Clearly, this is one school night it’d be rude not to stay out for.
