The Lubber Fiend, is a new, not for profit, DIY music and rehearsal space based in Newcastle that is currently in development. The name is taken from English folklore and is a large hairy man with a tail who will perform household chores and threshing duties in exchange for a saucer of milk and a place to kip by the fire.

Sam and Tom, the duo behind the project have identified a city centre space measuring over 3,000sq. foot that would make a great location for an affordable space that can support musicians, performers and promoters. They and the building’s landlord are on good terms, have a verbal agreement in place and will be meeting with the council imminently.

The pair have been busy applying for project grants but to get this worthy project up and running they are also asking “the kind folk of the aural community” to help them raise £5,000 to pay for initial building work by making a donation and spreading the word.

To donate you can visit their GoFundMe page here.
