Last summer saw the release of one of the most off the wall albums of 2018: The Lemon Twigs’ Go To School. Anyone who encountered the heart-warming, heart-breaking story of Shane the baby monkey’s attempts to assimilate into humanity was sure to fall in love with the little rascal’s difficult life. Shane led the experimental indie pop group through a very busy six months: they were given the opportunity to open for the monolithic Arctic Monkeys at the end of 2018, playing dates which went alongside their own headline arena shows.

Now, that suggests to me that The Lemon Twigs’ live show may well be just as exciting as the plotline for their third studio album. So hopefully we should be in for a good night on Saturday 23rd February as The Lemon Twigs return to the region to bring their quirky rock to the considerably smaller Riverside. While it may not yet be a full production of the story of Go To School (something which I’d love to see – Shane deserves his story told to the world), it still should be an exceptionally quirky night.
