Self-styled ‘industrial folk’ sextet The Jar Family celebrate the second We Are Family festival with a release of their own. The Day Dreamin’ EP was recorded, mixed and arranged by the band themselves, alongside long-time Jar Family collaborator Kevin Harris. An appropriately bright and breeze release, the title track’s languid guitar lines and rough and ready vocal invites sing-alongs aplenty; Time To Go features a moody melody and soaring vocal backing; Aint No Hope’s sassy harmonica and upbeat countrified swagger is a particular highlight; while EP closer Fire provides a bold and boisterous conclusion.

Dali explains that the band have a commitment to writing happy, heartfelt songs. “It’s sort of an experiment to release an EP rather than an album, simply because we have an idea for future releases,” he teases. “We tell stories and give you a pathway into our heads, thoughts and everyday happenings.”
