Reliably informed

Has it already been a month since we brought you the funkadelic delights of The Brass Studs at the Boiler Shop Steamer? It sure has, and this Saturday we’re bringing you another trio of some of the best toe-tapping bands in the region. Only this time, we’ve gone a bit folk. Headlining the event this month are he ridiculously talented Hartlepool five-piece The Jar Family. The group’s last single In The Clouds only built on the success of their previous efforts, which combines barn-storming folk elements and rousing sing-along moments that’s sure to raise the spirits of everyone in the room. They’re joined by Fickle Lilly, who’ll be playing some of the best jazz, country and blues you’re likely to see this week; come repent your sins at the church of swing. Rounding off the bill is the musical melting pot of four-piece The Bluebuds, who’ll be playing some of their brilliantly energetic hillbilly roots for you to have a good ol’ hoe down to.

Of course, as ever there’s also a lot more on offer from the Boiler Shop and in order to get the full experience, you’ll need to check out this month’s bevvy of pop up restaurants. This month once again features a massive range of food outlets, so there’ll be something to satisfy even the most exotic of tastes. Juicy burger bar The Fat Hippo, street scran from Electric East, classic oriental dumplings from Nan Bei, meaty and veggie Shwarma wraps from Papa and Mama Ganoush and much, much more will be on offer! Plus, there’ll be music all day from some of the best DJs in the region spinning some classic tunes to get you on the dancefloor.

Good food and great music: a perfect way to kick off summer!

The Jar Family, Fickle Lilly and The Bluebuds play at the Boiler Shop Steamer on Saturday 4th July.
