North East musician The Folding Desert (aka Adam Sams, formerly of art rockers Velvoir and Sauvage) is releasing his new EP titled TRIAD, and it couldn’t be more unique. Visually inspired by the illustrative, futuristic works of Jean Giraude (better known as Moebius), Adam takes the listener on a musical journey through his inner universe. “A lot is going to happen in these tracks and you’ll be escorted from a saccharine fantasy R&B world to dystopian electronica within 10 minutes.”

With colourful blends of R&B and psychedelia, the opening song Cinnamon Street explores the emotional impermanence of temporal bliss, with a unique lyricism. Burn, however, is based on the poignant relationship between the well-known characters Daenerys Targaryen and Jorah Mormont from Game of Thrones (Adam was inspired having binge-watched the series with his housemates). Finally, Black Rainbow takes another turn, focusing on the hierarchical and narcissistic tendencies of society – a scary, yet fascinating thought.

Citing influences from artists like Cory Henry and even Ed Sheeran, the expressionistic EP encompasses various themes and musical genres to provide an eclectic and exciting listening experience.
