Two Tees Valley creative organisations join forces to offer an opportunity for artists to make the most of their time.
The Auxiliary is an artist-led space (including studios, a gallery, a sound lab and residential space) who provide the time and space for artists to challenge, develop and explore their creative practices. As time is something a lot of creatives have now in this current climate, they have teamed up with Creative Darlington to make good use of it via their next round of ABODE, an artist-in-own-residence programme where they put together a list of open-source programmes that involve music-making, 3D modelling, visuals, video editing, VJ’ing and broadcasting/streaming.
For this project they are offering five mini-grants of £200, to encourage artists to develop their skills, as well as hosting a number of live Q&A sessions with experts on the programmes, who will be offering their expertise about how to get the best from them. Even those not successful with receiving a grant can still take advantage of these sessions.
The open call is simple. Select a free open source programme, download it, install it and start learning, experimenting and most importantly creating. The four programmes to choose from are 3D computer graphics software tool-set, Blender, VVVV, Pure Data and OBS Studio, general purpose media toolkit, VVVV, interactive computer music and multimedia works, Pure Data (Pd), and open-source software suite for recording and live streaming, Open Broadcast Studio
The deadline for this is the 28th April and is open to people with a DL postcode.
