Reliably informed

It’s a wonderful thing when a stage is filled with something a little bit different, moreover, two unique artists with a collection of music that stops you in your tracks is a rare but utterly special treat. There’s a chance to capture this and much more at The Waiting Room in Stockton on Sunday 21st February as The 150 Friends Club and Samantha Durnan play.

Both have a brilliantly quirky edge, though in tremendously seperate ways. The 150 Friends Club were formed from the remnants of leftfield London scenesters, The David Goo Variety Band, and sees the inimitable Mr Goo cultivating a more intimate, introspective sound. With a unique combination, that’s sometimes lo-fi, sometimes theatrical, it almost verges on being little playlets as Goo and bandmate Mariya Brachova spin little gems that tell fascinating stories. They are ably supported by Teesside pop songstress, and talented multi-instrumentalist, Samantha Durnan. Fresh melodies spring from intricate musicianship and a wonderfully enchanting voice, in a first solo gig of what could be a big 2016 for her.
