Stockton’s already made its name as one of the finest towns in the North East for live music, with world-class venues like The Georgian Theatre and ARC and events like multi-venue music-athon Stockton Calling cementing the town’s status as a superb place to watch live music.

Now neighbouring town Norton is getting in on the action too, with the advent of a new all-day festival entitled Teesside Live. Taking place at The Sun Inn and Music Lounge in Stockton and Head of Steam and The Hambletonian in Norton on Sunday 28th August, the venues offer up a variety of great local talent that’ll cheer up your bank holiday weekend.

Rather than staggering music throughout the day at all four venues, the organisers have cannily programmed the line-up to run consecutively, with the fun kicking off at The Hambletonian with self-proclaimed pessimistic folk artist Miserable Les, acoustic songwriters Peter Glasby and Stephen Miller, plus the country folk splendour of Megan Dotchin. The action then moves over to Head of Steam, where music lovers will be entertained by the likes of Hartlepudlian songwriter Tinny Bennett, acoustic duo Blue Luna and melodic folkers Crossover.

There’s just time to jump on a bus (or leg it up North Road) to Stockton’s Sun Inn, where post-rockers Trippergore set a louder tone for the late afternoon, accompanied by alt. rockers Echolines, rock and rollers The White Negroes and a headline slot from Telford-based post-hardcore band Wax Futures. Mosey over to Music Lounge for the evening entertainment featuring grunge three-piece Flowermouth, funky psych trio Crease, Newcastle’s feral rockers Kobadelta, pop rockers Para Alta and a headline slot from electro pop trio Talk Like Tigers.

All this for a mere fiver in advance. Get on it!
