In 2010, while taking a break from touring with Here We Go Magic, New York’s Teeny Lieberson came up with a concept for a new band. Not only would she step into the limelight, but she’d bring her sisters Lizzie and Katherine along for the ride too. TEEN were born, the sisters soon producing a string of albums that combined sparkling, retro-tinged synth pop with complex melodies and a keen knack for a hook.

After nine years of sparkling pop though, the Liebersons are calling it a day, recently announcing the end of TEEN. But not without one last hurrah. Their latest album, Good Fruit, is a reflection on what happens in life after love passes, looking to the future. It swings from breezy soundscapes to funk tinges and even a bit of low-key R&B, a kaleidoscope that sums up the band’s magpie tendencies. It’s a perfect swan song for the band, and they’ll bring their live show to Newcastle’s Star & Shadow Cinema as part of their last UK tour on Friday 4th October. Although the ending will be bittersweet, rather than mourning the loss of the band, it’s a final opportunity to fully immerse yourself in the sonic world that TEEN carved out for themselves across the years.
