Reliably informed

As much as we love Gruff Rhys’ solo project, there was a tinge of sadness when Welsh pioneers Super Furry Animals announced they’d be taking a break. Who would fill our void of slightly weird, completely perfect alt-pop? Have no fear because the group recently announced that they’d be back for new shows and as part of their tour they’ll be headlining Bingley Music Live at Myrtle Park in September.

You can expect the Welsh wonders to perform songs from their extensive back catalogue, including crowd favourites Rings Around the World, Golden Retriever, Runaway, Hello Sunshine and Juxtaposed With U. The band have recently re-released their cult Welsh-language album Mwng, so expect some cuts from the fifteen-year old classic.

It’s already been announced that they’ll be joined by British dance and neo-soul wonder Labrinth, Madchester survivors James, former Libertines man Carl Barat and the Jackals, popstar Ella Eyre, and Peter Hook and the Light, who will be playing the hits of his former bands New Order and Joy Division.

Bingley Music Live’s Artist Booker Lee O’Hanlon said: “We are so excited by the bill this year. This is a festival for real music fans with our Discovery Stage also delivering some of the very best new acts in the country. We can’t wait to announce a fourth headliner soon to complete this year’s exciting lineup.”

There are still more acts to be announced on the already rammed lineup, but surely the whole shebang is already worth the incredibly reasonable price of £49 for the weekend

Bingley Music Live takes place between 4th and 6th September at Myrtle Park, Bingley. Tickets are on sale now.
