Three short films centred on the weirdness of the English coast are set to get a showing at The Baltic on Sunday 25th September, as Michael Smith‘s Stranger On The Shore collection receives a very special screening.

Celebrating the fact that it’s a little bit different by the sea, the films focus on the coast as a site of eccentricity, transgression, colour and romance. Aided by Maxy Neil Bianco, with a soundtrack by Andrew Weatherall and Nina Walsh, this trio of cinematic slices are visually poetic, and look at the bohemian nature of Hastings, the dockside desolation of the Thames Estuary, and the spooky enchantment of Whitby. A chance to view some of the most beautiful parts of England in a new way is always something to be embraced.

Stranger On The Shore is at The Baltic, Gateshead on Sunday 25th September.
