Reliably informed

I saw Stone Foundation play last year; it was an incredible gig and The Cluny should be prepared for another packed out venue after their latest album, A Life Unlimited, hit number 26 in the UK chart. This gig will be the first since its release in August and I was keen to find out why Ouseburn was chosen to celebrate this success, so I had a quick chat to understandably enthusiastic frontman and all-round nice guy Neil Jones.

“We’re really excited about coming back to Newcastle, one of our favourite UK cities, for our second headlining gig at The Cluny.” He’s also up for challenging the Geordie crowd, adding “we’re really looking forward to seeing how many people have learnt the lyrics…” Gulp! Better get practicing!

If you haven’t seen Stone Foundation before, know that they’re a force to be reckoned with, sporting a huge horn section that fills the tiny Cluny stage with funk, a rhythm section providing some thoroughly danceable beats and Neil somehow making a Brummy accent beautiful. There’s just no way you can prevent your feet from dancing. Stone Foundation have gone from strength to strength and, in the words of Yazz, the only way is up.

Stone Foundation play at The Cluny, Newcastle on Friday 18th September.
