Teesside’s much-loved music festival starts announcing acts performing at this year’s event (11th April)
After a fantastic tenth anniversary festival last year, which attracted its largest-ever capacity crowd, Stockton Calling returns on Saturday 11 April 2020. The multi-venue event hosts stellar headliners, some of the most exciting national emerging artists, alongside the very best of regional acts and announcements for this year’s event are coming thick and fast.
Already announced for Stockton Calling are the festival’s main headliner Peter Hook, founding member of both Joy Division/New Order, & his band The Light. He’ll be joined by those playing the KU stage, which includes Liverpool’s much-championed alt-rockers Red Rum Club, Wigan indie outfit The Lathums, garage-rock trio The Mysterines, Lancashire rock ‘n’ rollers The Illicits, new wave five-piece from Hull Low Hummer, Teesside’s post-punk anarchists Benefits, Hartlepool’s folky soundscape makers Mt Misery, Sunderland quartet Plastic Glass, and party-starters The K’s.
Performing over at the recently announced ARC 2 stage are Virgin/EMI signings Sophie & The Giants, Darlington’s indie-pop darlings Llovers, London’s Weird Milk, hotly tipped Sunderland four-piece Vanderbilt, and Tyneside’s Hector Gannet.
Other artists who will be playing include Eve Conway whose career is going from strength to strength following a BBC Maida Vale session last year, indie-folk singer-songwriter Joe Ramsey, Teesside’s own Salsola, and Jodie Nicholson who released her debut album to great acclaim in late 2019.
Jimmy Beck, one of the festival’s organisers said: “We’re really, really pleased with how the line-up for Stockton Calling is shaping up this year. We’ve booked some of the most exciting acts coming through nationally and some north-east artists that are absolutely smashing it at the moment.”
Other stages are to be announced in the coming weeks so keep up to date vis the Stockton Calling Facebook and Twitter page.
