Musically and politically, Crass can lay claim to being one of the most influential bands of the past thirty years. Much of their street credibility stemmed from the recruitment of East End lad Steve Ignorant, who gave the erstwhile hippy idealists their punk edge.

Three decades on, Ignorant is still walking the walk, and while his latest album, Slice of Life, explores a more contemplative side to his songwriting, the content of his work still examines life in an upfront and soul-baringly personal manner.

Released by Newcastle’s exemplary Overground Records, Slice of Life’s Love And A Lampost album has been well received by critics and even more so by fans, whose lives have been changed by contact with Ignorant’s fierce compassion and rigor. Expect no less at their forthcoming gig at The Cluny.

Steve Ignorant’s Slice of Life play The Cluny on Saturday 2nd May.
