Londoners Witching Waves bring their “nervous noise pop” to North East when they stop off in Newcastle for a set at the Head of Steam as part of their UK tour on Wednesday 8th April.

Being a throwback to the Sixties with their grubby riffs and breathless sense of urgency this band has got all it takes to replicate the success of those who came before them such as The Vaselines. They still manage to keep it current by mixing it up with a contemporary vibe that is defined evidently through the track Better Run.

Witching Waves’ debut album Fear of Falling, released through Soft Power Records (The Spook School, September Girls) is in high demand after completely selling out online so make sure to grab one of just a handful left from the band after taking in the euphoria of classic Sixties pop at their headline gig.

Supporting them on the night are Newcastle acts Rice Milk, with their catchy low-fi pop noise akin to the likes of PAWS, and Baker Island, who’ll be showcasing their fuzzy pop sound to a lucky crowd in one of the city’s most intimate settings.

Stay Critical or Die 2 takes place at The Head of Steam, Newcastle on Wednesday 8th April.
